Abstract

The Hope Entomological Collections of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History contain 5-6 million specimens including over 25,000 types. Frederick William Hope published four Lampyridae types which were anticipated to be deposited within the collection: Lampyris napelensis, L. marginellus, L. ovalis, and Colophotia flavida. Only the former was found in the historic collections. In addition to this species published by Hope a single male specimen of Amydetes vigorsi Westwood was found within the collection. Images of both types are presented in this paper.
