Abstract

Counts of male glow-worms (Lampyris noctiluca), both in copula and on artificial light lures, failed to show any evidence of protandry but suggest a weak discrepancy in the timing of male and female seasons, with males appearing somewhat later and disappearing somewhat earlier in the season than females. The results demonstrate the potential of artificial light lures in the study of inconspicuous male lampyrids.
