Abstract

Bioluminescent beetles, or fireflies, are known for their unique ability to produce light through a chemical reaction in their bodies. These insects are found all over the world, and their evolutionary history is still not fully understood. In this paper, we review the available evidence on the biogeography and evolutionary history of bioluminescent beetles, including their distribution, diversity, and relationships with other organisms. We explore the factors that have influenced the evolution and diversification of these fascinating insects, including climate, geology, and interactions with other organisms. We also discuss the current research gaps and future directions in understanding the biogeography and evolutionary history of bioluminescent beetles.
